2024 Tata Nexon CNG Launched at Rs 8.99 Lakh; Read Here

Tata Motors has now changed the CNG game, as the indigenous automaker has launched the Tata Nexon CNG, which works with a turbocharged petrol engine! Yes, that’s right!

This is the first iteration in India to have a petrol-turbo-CNG setup. 

The price of this sub-compact SUV ranges between Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 14.59 lakh. These are ex-showroom figures. 

Overview

Unlike other CNG cars in India, the 2024 Tata Nexon CNG is a premium-looking vehicle from inside and outside, and it doesn’t look like a typical CNG vehicle. Having said that, this variant is also feature-loaded, as this CNG model houses a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup (touchscreen infotainment unit and digital instrument cluster), and front ventilated seats. 

In addition to that, there is also an auto HCAC, an 8-speaker audio system, height adjustable seatbelts for driver and co-driver, a 360-degree camera, a blind spot monitor, and rain-sensing wipers. It will also have an anti-glare IRVM, electric ORVMs, an illuminated Tata logo on the steering wheel, and connected car technology, among others. 

The exterior of this homegrown feature-loaded CNG vehicle has LED headlamps, LED taillamps, piano-black inserts, roof rails, faux silver skid plate on the front bumper, and body cladding, to name a few. 

As for the specifications, the Tata Nexon CNG has a dual-CNG cylinder setup, with a total capacity of 60 litres. As a result, the boot space hasn’t been compromised, which stands at 321 litres. 

And, as mentioned above, the 2024 Nexon CNG is the first vehicle to run with a turbocharged petrol engine. It houses a CNG-supported 1.2-litre turbo-petrol Revotron engine, which produces 118.27bhp at 5500rpm and 170Nm of torque at 4000rpm. This setup is exclusive to the 6-speed manual transmission. 

Tata Motors claims that the new Nexon CNG can give a mileage of 17.44 km/kg. Its top speed is rated at 180km/h. 

The top variant of the CNG version has disc-drum brakes and runs on 16-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, it has an unladen ground clearance of 208mm. 

Pricing and Rivals

Tata Motors sells the CNG version of the Nexon in four broad trims: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless Plus. Prices start at Rs 8.99 lakh for the base-spec Smart and goes up to Rs 14.59 lakh for the top-spec Fearless Plus PS variant. 

These are ex-showroom prices, as of September 2024.
